Ok its not every day that Hampden gets into a semi-final of a major tournament. I would need to delve into the history books to figure when the last time our ladies or in fact our gents got through to a big one. So its impressive that our Ladies' Triples has managed to get through to the Semi-Finals of the Glasgow. Yup Anne, Jean and Kathy beat Wellcroft this week to get through. So the big date - afternoon of the 2nd August. So we are all rooting for our fantastic three.
So what else has happened this week? Well there was a bit of construction work in the pavilion. The barbecue has been in its box since its purchase and I spent most of Friday night with the willing support crew of Jim P helping put together the mother of all flatpack jobs. Its a great buy for the club - reasonable size with it being a half barrel size and is a real winner. We have just had a trial run and will become a regular fixture on a Sunday me thinks. Lots of chat about the different things you can cook on a barby from burgers, chicken, pork chops to marshmallows and fruit. Hopefully the promised summer sunshine comes!
The Gents were out in the Cathcart league this week. Well they turned up anyway to play Croftfoot. We can safely say we have hit a run of consistency. One of the teams was even 8-0 up at one point only to loose a 5 then a 6 and then.... well they all ended up second on the night. I am pretty sure we are in the bottom half of the league :-)
We are welcoming Nethertown this week so that will be a great friendly to look forward too!
Cheers
