Our wee plan is starting to work. Our mission is to tell the world our story and Laura at Bowls Scotland managed to bag us a big fish to help. Yes our little Bowling Club will be on the BBC. Our club that few have heard about will be on BBC Radio Scotland by the end of the year. On Tuesday night we had the first interview with Mima, Jim, Iain, Laura and I all taking part in interviews for the programme "Out of Doors". It was a great evening and after a couple of hours Mark and Rhona left very impressed with the stories they had heard and learning the fascinating history of the place. So much so that I got a call back from Rhona the following day to say if it was ok to send another interviewer down for Open Day. Just to get a few more stories and some live action to record for the radio. How cool is that? We can't wait to hear it on the radio.
The season is heading towards its close and on Saturday is our Closing Day. We will be taking down the flag for the last time in 2016 and have a game of Aussie Scoring Bowls to finish the season in utter chaos. The chances of the membership grasping the scoring system on the afternoon is as likely as Elvis discovering the Loch Ness Monster.... But it will be a great laugh and a great way to end the season. The focus will then go onto the winter schedule which I knocked up and has lots of great events to keep the members happy during the winter. I'll need to get them printed off.
So one wee mention. Our great form lasted one week at the indoor bowls with our Monday night game ending up with a 14-7 defeat. To be honest only Ian Peden turned up for the game with myself and Alan playing spectacularly badly. I'll not comment on the skip as that is always dangerous but needless to say he declared himself.....
Cheers
