This week was one of those weeks that I won't forget. I met up with Ian Williams our Match Secretary on Monday night at the Bowling Club to discuss how the Business Planning course had gone. I have to say its worked its magic and Ian is right up for all the things that need done in the club. There is a long list and we set about writing it all down. The course also highlighted some of the other clubs that attended and how they were impressed with what Hampden had already done. I think we can build a little community of development clubs that can all help each other.
We also had our usual catch up with Laura from Bowls Scotland. Ian and I had our big list of things to talk about. From back wall painting, fixing up the path (we had a quote for that - so we're off and running), rewriting a constitution, membership plans, fundraising for the year and how we are going to inject even more optimism into the bowling club. It can be done and we are going to have a right go at it.
On Friday night we had our annual halloween quiz.Jim and Kathy did a fantastic job in decorating the place out. There was 16 of us on the night with some great outfits. We had the cast from the Wizard of Oz, a werewolf, two from the Scream film and our own Masai Chief (or chef as I would him up for the night). 30 questions and the team All Hail to the Chief came out on top. I have plenty of photos from the evening and even a wee video - i'm sure that will come in handy for the end of year video.
In terms of the Hampdeners we did really well last Monday night. We played the table toppers and were 12-10 up going into the last end. Unfortunately we lost a 2 with the last bowl of the match and now sit in 3rd in the league. Here's hoping we can continue the form.
So whats on this week - well we have our presentation night on Friday night. Tickets still available. Should be a grand evening. We hold it at Queens Park Bowling Club so that we can get everyone in. Lots of prizes to give out.
Cheers
