This weekend was the biggest day of our season. Two days of finals with 6 trophies up for grabs. A great weekend for all involved and was viewed by an enthralled crowd of friends and family. Perfect weather for the bowls with sunshine and not one hint of rain all weekend. It was great for all. So congratulations to the following HBCr's:
- Gents Championship - Tommy Clarke
- Ladies Championship - Anne Young
- Seniors Champion and Presidents Cup - Jim Peden
- Ladies Ronaldson Cup - Charlotte McLay
- Vice Presidents - Graeme Brown
Commiserations go to the finalists that wasn't quite their year. All of them had a great run to get to the final.
For Mr Clarke it was the first victory in the Gents Championship and came back from 10-2 down against Danny Thomson to win 21-18. In the Ladies Championship it was a closely fought affair with Anne Young winning 21-17 against Charlotte McLay. Well done to both who will get their names up on the boards for all to see. President Peden also scooped two trophies over the weekend.
The pairs finals and also the Kingsley Cup is yet to be played. So there are a number of trophies still up for grabs. Plenty of bowling left this season.
So onto other fixtures. We have our own Tom and Gerry who are in the Glasgow's Southern Seniors League Knockout Semi Finals (I had to ask Jim a few times to get that right). So good luck to them. Charlotte was also in the Rutherglen Ladies Singles Semi-Finals and was unfortunately beaten. But it was a great run.
So photo of the weekend has to go to Mr Peden and Mr Sleigh. I saw the pair them eyeing up a couple of walking sticks and they went off in style to the Seniors final. See the photo below. Brilliant.
Great weekend. Well done to everyone. And especially to our Match Secretary Ian Williams for a great job organising the finals over the weekend. And to the Ladies who did a fab job putting a great wee cup of tea after Saturdays game.
Cheers
