On Saturday we had our first big trybowls event at the club. These days are the future of the club. It's about getting people into the club and giving a taster if what a great place it is. It was a grand day. We had the bowlsparc kit out (its targets, tunnels and gates to aim at) which went down well with the kids. It was amazing the focus changed when a can of coke was up for grabs. That was the prize and the kids had a ball trying to win it. We also had the barbecue on for the first time in the year. It was brilliant seeing everyone help support the day. And it was great to see the kids after the food asking if they could go back out and play some more bowls. That bodes so well for the future.
Today we had the Glasgow Secretaries and Treasurers tournament. Hampden had two entries and were drawn in the same group. Unfortunately the Secretary and the Treasurer went out and lost the battle of Hampden by 1 shot (will never hear the end of that). Ian and Jim worked their way to the final, however they weren't victorious this time around.
We also had the committee meeting this week. An interesting one at that. We are starting to make a number of decisions that will take some of the load of the committee. There is so much to do and we are going in the right direction.
The Match Secretary has been mega busy. The fixtures are now up on the board for all the competitions throughout the summer. We are aiming to do well like last year and actually get them played on time. The teams for Glasgow and Scottish ties will be going up shortly. So make sure you get down to the club to see if you are picked. Lots of great games to look forward too. Lets hope for even more success this year building on last year's historic victory for the Ladies' Triples.
The summer is coming. May is nearly here.
On the 10ks front. The first one is this Wednesday at Helensburgh. Looking forward to that. Better remember the top. That would be a massive faux pas :-) aiming for 53 mins or less. Training hasn't quite gone to plan so winging it a wee bit but hey thats part of the fun.
Enjoy the week
