This week kicked off on Monday evening with the TryBowls evening. A number of new members came along to get a few hints and tips and most importantly get out on the green. Its amazing how quickly 90 mins can pass as they were out learning the ropes. Thanks to George for helping me. Most importantly it was great weather. The nights are not as long as they have been so only a few more weeks off the Monday nights left. There was also a number of ties being played so it was great to see the green being so busy.
The season is getting closer to the Finals and many of the ties are getting played. The big two are the Championships. Don is already through to the Gents Final and the Ladies final will be contested by Ann and Charlotte. There are a number of trophies up for grab over the final's weekend - so here's hoping for some great weather and fun filled bowls.
In terms of results. The Ladies were out in the Rutherglen District and they all got through their 1st Round. Which is fab. The Gents were in the Glasgow Top 5 was this week. We hosted Queens Park and Kingswood at Hampden and our 5 were out at Stamperland playing Cathcart. It was a hard fought match and Hampden lost 3-2 with Danny and Pat winning but Tommy, Ian and Don loosing their matches. The Methven Friendly is next Sunday so it will be a great day and its home.
One nice thing out of the matches recently has been the comments on the green. Its looking great at the moment and no moss. Running well and true so all the hard work by David the Greenkeeper is paying off!
Oh and the 10ks. Ian Williams our Match Secretary is running the last one with me. Which is fab because it will be his 1st one. He was just telling me he is up to 7k which is brill. Irvine coming up in a week and a bit. Looking forward to the finale. It has been great.
Have a grand week.
Cheers
