This week has been a bit different. In the last blog I managed to loose the full draft because at the last moment the website crashed. Which is always a disaster regardless of how careful you have been. Firstly the bowls. Although Hampden is nearing the end of the season there are still a couple of finals played today. Tommy Clark saw off the challenge of Alan Smith to win the Kingsley Cup. Anne and Christine beat Linda and Mima to win the Ladies Balloted pairs. Big congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners up.
So onto to the indoor bowls. Yup the blog is going by to follow the Hampdeners (well 3 of them are members :-) as they proceed through the Monday night league. Myself, Alan, Ian W and the Peden brothers will see themselves on a bowling update each week through the winter months. After the first week defeat we have bounced back with a 14-7 convincing win. We are in the 2nd division so we are aiming high to get close to promotion. Promising win this week with some great bowls. Let's hope for some victories!
So onto the highlight of the week. Some of you may remember that last week I talked about the BBC interview that had been lined up by Laura Kerr from Bowls Scotland. We'll we had out research calls this week and we are on for filming this Tuesday night. It will be fab to talk about the club, it's history and the future we have. I had my own call with Emily from the research team on Friday and I think she was rather surprised by our story. So myself, Christine, Jim, Ian and Mima will be doing the interviews. Very exciting stuff
Also this week was the Committee. The big ticket items were the upcoming Scotland gam, Closing Day prep and the winter schedule. We are again a sellout for the Scotland game and welcome our usual friends to the club for the prematch hospitality. It's a great day and we are just hoping the result can match it. The second was the winter schedule. You know the season might be over but we have some big things planned. Including the Halloween Quiz, Christmas karaoke, whisky tasting and dogs night. This will be finished off in March with a ten pin bowling match. What better preparation for the new season but a bit of 10 pin bowling - we'll need to come up with some bowler names for that :-). The bowling club will be open every Friday through the Winter and i'm sure there will be a few great evenings to be had. Then our closing day on the 1st October - we take down the flag and have a bit of a laugh with Aussie Style Scoring - a new one for me. We'll see how much chaos we can cause!
So all go for our big interview. Hampden going out to the public once again.... It hasn't happened since the last match to be played at the ground since 1884.
Onwards and upwards. Our Twitter page has on it 'Our mission is to tell the world our story... and a have a lot of fun along the way!' Tick tick.
Cheers
