For those that have kept up with the blog over the last 16 months will have come to realise that we are on a mission. This comprises 3 parts -
Last year I managed to write 52 blogs. One a week for 52 weeks - chronically our story. This year I have had to come up with another challenge. This time its a running challenge which is big personal challenge to me but also something that everyone can get involved in - running 10 x 10 organised 10ks in a bowling season to help raising £10k for our restoration fund....and most importantly running in a Hampden Top.
Last year I ran the Glasgow 10k in a Hampden Top - it was a great event - very inspiring running alongside so many amazing people. Today I watched some of the London Marathon. The oldest participant was 84. Josh Griffiths started off in the fun runners section and was the best finishing Britain. David Weir winning the wheelchair marathon for a 7th time. So many inspiring people with amazing stories.
How do you get involved - well you can sponsor through the just giving page. Or you could pick one of the dates, sign up and come along a have a go at a 10k in a Hampden Top. If you can get people to sponsor you then that will help us get to the target so much quicker. Here is a wee reminder of the page.

So here are the dates - all booked in:
There are lots of other things we have planned to raise money and most importantly raise awareness.
We have made other in-roads into this. This week we became a development club with SportsGlasgow, which is great. We also had Ged O'Brien over filming more for Tam's documentary on Third Lanark. I managed to film a few questions on what it meant to him to have finally solved the mystery of the Lost Hampden. He had been searching for the answer for 30 years and was absolutely stoked that we had solved it. Oh and managed to sign him up as the Honorary Patron for the the #Restore1stHampden Project. His help and advice will be amazing.
Thanks to everyone that helped to get the hill cleared - it looks brilliant and what a difference. I have put the before and after pictures on this. Lots of great events ahead. On Saturday we have our TryBowls Day - open day for all from 1pm - games, bbq, food, music and most importantly a bucketload of fun!
The bowling club needs all the attention and help it can get. You can feel it starting to happen. We just need a few willing sponsors and runners to help it along the way :-)
Cheers

- Raise awareness of Hampden Bowling Club and restore it to ensure that it will be here for another century.
- Raise awareness of the important role that bowling clubs have in the community and the social benefits they bring - fresh air, exercise, a game accessible for all ages and a place for people to have plenty of fun along the way.
- Tell the world the story of our bowling club and that it rests on the original Hampden Park - the first home of Queens Park, where the majority of the modern game was invented and is arguably the most important acre of land in the footballing world.
