So this weekend had a couple of fixtures. Firstly it was the mixed triples event on Saturday. A great day with good weather. Lots of action on the green. But there could be only one winner. Big congratulations to Gerry Murphy, Anne Clelland and John Miller who ran out victors on the day. There are only a few events left before the end of the season so its great to get a really well turned out event.
Today was also another final. Tommy Clarke versus John Brett in the Gents Seniors Final. A closely fought affair with Tommy running out winner by 21 - 16. Great effort from both gents.
Thanks Jim M and John D for the updates. The quiz didn't take place this week due to a lack of numbers but thanks again to John D for preparing it. We will get it back on for October.
One other piece of news. Darren Taylor got in touch this week. He had picked up a commemorative globe that was given to celebrate the 50th opening of the green in 1955. He found it in a Salvation Army charity shop and wondered if we would like it returned. An amazing find by Darren and the club are delighted that its being returned. A wonderfully generous and thoughtful gesture.
And finally Yvonne Bramma shared a link from the Evening Times about how the Lord Provost has got behind a campaign to save Corunna Bowling Club from Developers. It is designated in the Glasgow City Development Plan and there is a planning application for flats. Lets hope they win their campaign.
Another wee week in HBC land. Enjoy the week ahead.
Cheers
