Another week. The season hasn't even got under way yet but so much to talk about. So what have i been up to... Well on Friday we had Bowls Scotland into give us advice on what we could do to improve the club. I had seen the email address at the end of a fantastic Bowls Scotland video covering the Lundin Bowling Club in Fife about how their hard work had managed to start to increase membership. Inspiring stuff and got me thinking on whether we could replicate this for our wee club.
So having dispatched the email, Laura from Bowls Scotland got in touch and we met at the club. What an uplifting conversation. Totally not expected but here was a person that had the answers to so many questions that I have been asking myself over the last year.
One of my biggest concerms was how to increase awareness of bowling within the local area. Well there is already a 2 year campaign run by BowlsScotland called www.trybowls.com. We didn't even know about it and we can now plan around that to get the most of out of Launch Weekend at the end of April. How to apply for funding to improve the facilities? Laura had a 10 page guide on who to approach and the support they could give. She also gave us Information on the Club Development Forum that exists that gets like minded clubs the opportunity to get together and discuss how they are all tackling the same issue... Recruitment of new members.
But the crowning moment was when she approved our new top. If you are on twitter you would have already seen this but here it is. A huge step forward for the club. The shirt and tie for games can be discarded and here is the new look Hampden BC Polo Shirt. Its great and big Thank You to Libby from Kickedback who created it for us. See below.
Another wee step forward in the club. Now i'm off to sign the club up to try bowls.com.
Cheers
