So over the last couple of weeks I have been talking about our consistency in the Cathcart League with wipeouts becoming a regular fixture. Well this week we turned the tables. In fact it was a terrific week for all the teams we put out this week. With 2 home and 2 away victories in the Gents Cathcart League - HBC came out with terrific performances against Wellcroft - otherwise known as the Welly. So being a Fifer there is obviously a little saying that was on the tip of my tongue on Thursday night but have said it in the safety off the blog. We Wellied the Welly!!
We also had victories in the first round of the Cathcart Seniors with Pat Hunter at Weir Recreation winning the singles and the fearsome pairing of Murphy and Peden coming out on top in the pairs against Titwood. So for the first time in a long time I can say it was a full house. This week will see the next rounds - so here's hoping the form continues. Its great to write about successes for our wee club!
On Saturday we hosted Nethertown. Its great to get a group of Fifers in the club. They had a great day. The weather stayed dry. The humour and laughs were fab. The food at the end of the day (Yvonne is a star) was fantastic! Everyone had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our friendlies are becoming legendary and hope to get more arranged for next year!
So for the week ahead. Well its the biggest day of our calendar with the Summer Fete on Saturday. We are hoping for some summer weather - sunny spells predicted at the moment by the weatherman. We have a few different things this year with a beer and burger tent, face painting and more games on the green to keep folk entertained. So we hope that as many people can make it. It'll be a great day and would be fab to get people along to sample our little club.
Hope to see you Saturday!
Cheers
