So I can't quite believe it. Another year has gone by and another AGM is here. There is a little story that attaches itself to AGMs - the Club Constitution. Up until 2015 an AGM was set for the 2nd Thursday evening of February. Zero flexibility, in the middle of winter and in the evening. The reason - well that was the way it had always been. And this date itself was locked in the constitution of the club. So how do you change the constitution to a much more reasonable "A Sunday in February'. Well it was thrown around a lot and according to our constitution we would need an Extraordinary General Meeting to change it. So we took a big gamble and pushed it through at the AGM. This is how crazy constitutions can get, however common sense can prevail.
Why do I tell this story? Well this year rather than 6 changes to the constitution, we are going for a complete overhaul. Stretching the boundaries as always. Hampden has come a long way over the last couple of years and this will be a true test of its adaptability. We need a new constitution as ours, well how do you put it, is a bit out of date... The core of it is that for grant funding you need to have an up to date constitution and we need to do a bit of modernising. So we have done a complete revamp and fingers crossed we can get it through.
So the AGM. Lots of prep to do. Over recent weeks I have seen lots of Facebook messages from other clubs reminding their members to come along to the AGM. Its a big day for any club. A report by the Committee on all things Hampden. A celebration of the successes and also the opportunity to thank the Committee and members for their continued support. Its a day for questions, a day for celebrating, its a day for nominating a new committee and most importantly it gets everyone back together again to start to look forward to the coming season. Winter is over, Spring is here and the Summer is just around the corner. Hehe can't wait.
But as ever we have a few things cooking. Over the weekend the banking started to get cleared. Its so important that you can see the club when walking along Queens Drive. The fence has been cleared and you have a much better view of the club. The fence can now get painted and the rest of the hill will get sorted over the next couple of weeks. Oh and a plug for our wee night out on Friday night to Shawfield. The greyhounds await. It was a great night last time.
One wee note. Thanks to Denise and Graham for sharing this and our other stories in the District 21 Bowls Scotland Facebook page. The more we get this out the better.
So back to our 6+6 recruitment campaign. Onto reason number 2 for joining. Bowls is a sport that you can get started within 90 seconds. All you really need to know is that you keep the small disc to the inside and you can get going. Its amazing isn't it. So if you are interested or have family and friends that would like to try bowls out then please get in contact with us at the following link.

Signing up is easy and we hope that you can be part of meeting our challenge. We have a wee idea for the AGM that will get us going in the right direction. Lets see how that one goes.
Cheers
