5,000 times. Haha. Who would have thought?
Ok so what am I on about this week. Well last week I talked about 'Our History video'. We had been picked up by Project Glasgow and the video started to get shared. Well I was astounded this week as it has kept going reaching over 10,000 Facebook accounts and the video has now been seen 5,000 times. This is fantastic but hopefully only the beginning. The mission is to double it and I have a few ideas that might just get us there. There is so much on Facebook and Twitter that's it's difficult to get noticed but we're going to have a real good go at it. It's been great to see the comments about memories of people watching at HBC and of the rose garden. Just shows you that Hampden's history is important to a lot of people. So if your on Facebook and want to help then please share it.
As a follow onto last week's blog another agreement at the committee was to put aside a modest budget to purchase items for the club. Rather than ruling by committee for everything (are you surprised) each committee member can buy items and just get on with it. In the past it always took ages to get things agreed. But this little step will get things moving. From placemats to flyers, to a new carpet for the front entrance to paint for bathrooms. With just a little bit of freedom this will hopefully get things improved. In bitesize chunks and in the Hampden way :-)
So onto the next big event. The AGM letters were handed out or sent out this week. 73 members, 47 full members and 26 social & resident members. It's a big exercise but again it's a letter to let everyone know what we have planned. A new constitution will be the main talking point as well as our plans to promote the club.
The key for 2017 is membership. If you remember the BBC Radio Scotland broadcast our mission this year is to get 6 full gents and 6 full ladies members. But the big question how do you tempt them in? What reasons have we got to join HBC rather than another bowling club? So to keep the six theme going I have come up with reasons and we're tagging it as HBC6+6.
So reason number 1. Hampden Bowling Club is small and friendly club where you can immediately fit in. Lots of opportunties to meet people of all generations and enjoy bowls. If you like competition there is plenty to keep your interest with competitions throughout the year and social events to keep your interest through the Winter.
So if you are interested or have family and friends that would like to try bowls out then please get in contact with us at the following link.

Signing up is easy and we hope that you can be part of meeting our challenge. Opening day is 8th April and hoping to be a good way there with our target. We're already rolling with 2 Gents membership forms submitted. Here's hoping you ladies out there can catch up :-)
Cheers
