We are a small club so its great when you get a week which produced a number of wins. First off we have Charlotte who has got through the next round of the Glasgow Competition. A great wee victory and hopefully she continues the winning streak into the next round.
The Gents were also out in the Cathcart League this week. Its a great competition. Each team in the district plays each other with 4 triples heading out each Thursday night. 2 stay at home and 2 head away. This week we were up against Cathcart BC and we recorded two home victories and one away victory. 3 out of 4 is fab. We are hoping to finish a lot higher than last year. Anyway hopefully that form continues into next week too.
Today we also the club went over to Millport. Each year we have a friendly and this year Millport were hosting. There has been a big uptake from the club members for the club friendlies and for the Millport game was no different. In fact we filled the 24 seater bus and Gerry had to take his car to get the squad over. Its a great club and its a great friendly. Even better this year as over the 5 mixed rinks, Hampden ran out winners 37 - 32 and brought the cup home. Happy days.
A great wee week. I am learning the value of the friendlies in the calendar and just what they give the club. Through the Twitter account I have linked with every bowling club that I can find but there are more out there. Its great to see bowling clubs using this and its a great way to make contact with them. We have a few more irons in the fire in terms of friendlies, which is great to see.
One wee thing I spotted tonight. We had over 230 hits on the website this week. Which is the highest I think we have had. Shows we are getting spotted.
One last advert. Every Tuesday is Open Night. You can come down and try out the game. If you haven't already had a go then come on down and see if you like it. All you need is a flat pair of shoes. We take care of the rest.
Hope the weather improves for the week ahead. We have a new BBQ that we need to road test...that could be a Saturday first for the balloted pairs on Saturday....
Cheers
