Okay so every so often Hampden pulls out a result that puts a big smile on your face. This weeks its the turn of the Lord Provost Trophy, which was held at Queens Park this weekend. Two things make you smile. One its a really big trophy and there are a lot of teams vying for the honour. Secondly it is also Queens Park Bowling Club's 150th birthday this year and I'm sure they would have wanted to win it on home soil. Anyway massive congratulations to Jim, Charlotte, Jim and Linda who finished up 21 shots up and took home the trophy to Hampden. Another one that we'll need to get a photo off.
There was also one win in the Gents Cathcart league on Thursday night (mmm consistent anyway). One massive change is that the new Secretary looking after it uses the wonders of excel and email to send out the results. It has finally moved into the modern era. Hallelujah. Hampden were also out in the action in the Millennium Triples on Wednesday but lost 2-1 on the night.
The promotion of the #Restore1stHampden is going along fine as well. Queens Park FC's birthday is on the 9th July and there is lots of events happening over the weekend. One of them being a night at the 1st Hampden for the supporters club. Keith McAllister has been plugging away and has a heritage trail lined up as well. There is so much history in the area and Keith has worked his socks off getting some for the fans. So great that it kicks off where it all began.
And finally the 10 x 10ks. Lots of interest in people wanting to do the final one in October. I reckon I'm to a squad of 10 so far. I also got a great wee email from the Great Scottish Run for the event saying that the Evening Times is interested in the story... So if you fancy it then please let me know. It'll be a great event. I have the tour t-shirts ready to be ordered and at £7 a pop they are a bargain. 6 left for the season to choose from. I'm off to do another run in 27C heat... Did I tell you I was on holiday...
Thanks to Ian Williams for the results update - magic!
Cheers
